19 For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me. So I died to the law—I stopped trying to meet all its requirements—so that I might live for God. 20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:19-20
For I Die, living for Christ not only brings life, but also requires death. I Die preaches through his words and music that in order to live, you must first die. Growing up in a single parent home, I Die’s (Vince Carr) mother taught him this lesson on a daily basis. The death that she spoke of was not a physical death in a sense, but one that required you to allow God to take over. He carried this lesson on into his teenage years, when he begin to perform Christian Hip Hop.
In 2000, I Die (then known as Tank) along with The Kemizt (then known as Bling), begin the Christian HipHop/Acoustic Hip Hop Group “equipped. Equipped, went on to perform at many different venues and opened up for/performed with nationally known and touring acts at festivals (Michael English , Newsboys, Apologetics, Kirk Franklin, etc.) . While performing at city wide festivals (i.e. Riverbend – Chattanooga,TN), youth rallies/concerts (i.e. Gospel Expsure USA – Atlanta,GA), and nationally known venues (hifi buys Amphitheater – Atlanta,GA), equipped, begin receiving attention from various labels. Although offers came, equipped, never felt the push from God to sign at that moment.
In 2003, The Kemizt (then known as Bling) and I Die (then known as Tank), parted ways as musicians, but remained brothers off stage. The Kemizt begin performing Christian Rock in a band “ignition”, and I Die got married, had kids, and settled down. I Die, begin to focus on his ministry/label CYHM – WHR (Can You Hear Ministries – White House Records). In 2007, after many years of working with artist on his label, I Die, felt the call from God to get back into the studio, and make a new album. With the help of his manager (Lamate Attaud), his producer (Julio Flores’), CYHM Artist (Stancil Brown) and a slew of other artist, I Die, begin working on some new tracks. God took I Die and the Family (Artist I Die worked with/signed) on the road. Opening for Mr.Del, performing with TS4C, and a number of other artist/venues, the stage once again became I Die’s second home, and seeing souls saved became his addiction again. But for every season there is an end.
In 2008, God called iDie back into the studio to work on his freshman solo project, and since then he has released 4 additional albums.
